Yes, it is ‘yet another zombie game,’ but at least it’s a good one.
Despite a lack of dialogue, this game has plenty of character courtesy of some crazy monsters and playable characters. The increasing difficulty of Call of Mini, along with a large, if unimaginative, arsenal of unlockable weapons makes this a game that will keep you entertained for a good while. The blocky cartoon graphics are instantly endearing, and there is a sufficient amount of blood on show to make sawing zombies in half or blowing them up a satisfying experience. They are large and multi-layered, though the urban nocturnal setting means that there’s little variety. The levels are all set in a small town by night. Early on you’ll just have to despatch shambling zombies and dogs, but before long you’ll be dealing with riot police zombies and giants. There are also several areas in which you can upgrade each of your weapons.Īnd you’ll need all these swanky upgrades, as your enemies are varied and increasingly challenging. There is a good variety of weapons and new characters to unlock, each of whom has their own special ability. But within this simple gameplay formula there is plenty of fun to be had. The only buttons you have in the game except for movement are for changing weapon and firing. However, this game isn’t a complete cop-out, as its 3rd-person perspective and visual style (a kind of hybrid between South Park and Lego) make it quite a unique game among zombie cash-ins. Cheaply borrowing its title from a certain ultra-popular war shooter, this game sees you running around several environments blowing away zombies, which increase in toughness as you improve your character.
I have reviewed so many mediocre games involving zombies and sheep, or zombies and aliens, that my brain goes blank when I hear that there is yet another game of this sort making waves on the App Store.Ĭall of Mini Zombies is a self-explanatory title.
Running around and shooting the s**t out of endless waves of zombies isn’t exactly a groundbreaking concept for a game any more.
